As we have to fix our split pin on the prop anyway, we may copy your idea and go for the 3 blade prop. As it stands we are currently getting 0 knots out of the engine! Seems the previous owners didn't fix the engine as agreed, and now seems to rev only just above idle, and doesn't produce any forward drive at all.
We have booked in a service to try and sort it out. The prop is probably also fouled which won't be helping. Easterly winds last weekend were blowing us back in the pen, meaning we couldn't even get out for a sail, so its number 1 priority to get fixed. Although on the plus side it's forcing us to sail back into the pen without an engine which is good for the confidence!
One success this weekend was fitting a ladder to the stern, much like yours, although with the high number of shark attacks in WA this season, we'll be drawing lots as to who uses it first!
