Hello All,
A quick message to say thanks for welcoming me into the Endeavour community.
I have recently inherited a beautifully vibrant, safety orange coloured E26, 'Hamburg'. Albeit with no rudder attached.
I was able to mould a new rudder and shaft from Keith Morris who was infinitely helpful. She has just been slipped, bum sanded and repainted. Following a new battery, tickle of the pistons and stubborn channeling of the cooling system she has just completed her maiden motor from her mooring Woodford Bay, Greenwich around Cockatoo and return without skipping a beat! I was very proud that morning despite the pouring rain.
My name is Josh, 22yo, and Hamburg, odd 30yo +?, is my first keelboat. I have been racing competitively now for 5 years on Adams 31, Farr 40, Mount Gay 30, 26ft Folkboat, S80, TP52, J80, J122 and J111, to name a few. - I get around. However I am adamant the E26 will give all of these a run for their money. I am most excited to be able to helm a boat belonging to me for once.
Hamburg will soon be registered with the Greenwich Flying Squadron where Barubi, an E24 sails - competitive against the Adams 31 in red division of a Wednesday twilight I might add.
Again, this was just a message to say hello and thankyou. Next major jobs for Hamburg; survey rigging, assess halyards, service winches, figure out insurance, go sailing.
Hello and thanks! - Josh. |

| Well done Josh. Its the most cost effective way to own a yacht. You wont be disappointed with the old girl. Feel free to come racing with us in Botany Bay where we have plenty of E26's and a few 27's in the fleet. |

The E26s Barubi and Evo look forward to Hamburg joining us at GFS, although Drummoyne Sailing Club is also close by. You seem to have the priority list in order; the safety things like rudder and rigging and the cheap things like servicing winches and the important thing - go sailing! Somewhere on this site is reference to an insurance company that doesn't need a hull survey for our old boats. |
