Suggestion :--

Could we/someone arrange mass-production of the crossed-E insignia for all boats at Botany Bay?
Maybe different colours for diff size boats?

I'll go for three sets of about 30 cm dia.

Who'll do it ?

I’ve mailed off the form for the October regatta, so now we’ve got to get our E26, and crew, ready for the hop down from Sydney to Botany and the races.
I need the practical type of advice I’ve come to expect from the forums, like:
What additions should I make to our category 7 safety kit for a short, daylight trip outside the heads? We’ll have a chart and a compass, a handheld GPS and mobile phones, but no radio (except maybe a handheld 2m). One of the crew is doing a survival at sea course this month, but the last time I was outside the heads was in an RAN battle tanker – and that was 10 years ago.
How long should I allow for the trip? (Answers like “How long is piece of string” don’t count as practical advice).
How much fuel to carry for our 6HP Evinrude?
Are there other Endeavours we could cruise with?
Particularly, I would not like to lose the rudder at sea. What is the best (ie, cheapest) way to get a stainless steel rudder shaft fitted?

I am hoping to get to the 40th aswell.
Maybe as the time gets closer those who are coming from Sydney Harbour could make a time and place to meet for the sail down.(safety in numbers).

Hi David, was good to meet you at last.
Don't worry about sailing in company, when the time gets closer, many of the boat will indicate their intentions and so you can all meet up and travel together. You are gaining experience of "Sail la via" so that come October the jornt down the coast will be a breeze.
I bet you are looking forward to Wednesday and becomeing the proud owner of a great Endervour.
cheers,

"Splinter"

Thanks Kevin,
Well i financialy became the owner yesterday, had a good day took her for a spin around Lake Macquarie.

She is easy to handle and not much weight on the tiller, i had to fight my 13 year old son to take the helm back, he had no problem steering her around.

The forecast is for 10/15 kts NW on Wednesday, i just hope it stays at that.

David.

Just to let everyone know our plans for October. Gosford Sailing Club is planning to travel down the coast to Botany Bay on the Saturday before the long weekend. This will be Saturday 24th. September. At this stage there should be 4 to 6 yachts making the journey but hope to entice more to make the effort. Graham

in answer to Swannie @ top of page - someone! ie me - is arranging a flag for all boat in the regatta - it will be (at this stage anyway) a e24 symbol (as this is what the 40th celebrates) with a code flag 4 and code flag 0 incorporated.
I reckon with the whole fleet flying them off their backstays (will be a sizeable flag) we should be able to put on an impressive show!!

Hi Guys,
Been talking to Mike Sloane "the Buzz". We think we have seen "Kiaora". We have yet to check out our list of boats we put posters on for the Oct Weekend.
We think it is a mooring minder at Greys' point.
We will check it out. (If it is, could we get people to-gether and FIX ?)
"Come on" 1st 2nd & 3rd of October. Looking forward to the weekend.
Col, I know there are invitations going out to old "Endervourers'" and other functions being planned. Could you fill us in, I think it is all great and how can we help ?
Also, for the guys who are hesitant to travel between Ports, how about let us know and we could help you bring you boats down to Botany Bay.
We could come and join you the weekend before Oct and bring it down. What a good day we could have !.
Col & the Committee is this cool with you ?, Can you accomodate the yachts the weekend before so that all "Endeavourer's" can enjoy the Weekend.
cheers,

"Splinter"

Thats cool Kevin - we will have space well before the event - if you are coming just let us know (a few hours in advance ie - ring when you are at Cape Baily from the south or little Bay from the north)
Organisation is in hand and we will ask for help when and where needed - thanks.
Keep us informed on the Kiaora please.
Col
PS JS has done a good job on the link page a ?

Mike & I will be going up to check, we think it still has the same name. Nothing confirmed as yet so don't get excited.
Will advise as soon as we are able to get up there.
cheers,

Hi David,
Can you explain briefly how you inserted the jpg file. Something fishy about the photo!
