Over the weekend I finally got onto the contact person over the phone in regards to the mark 2 E30, "Kaos". He is still uncertain if she is still for sale, however, last Friday night still saw her on her mooring in Manly next to the Manly Wharf. The contact told me that he was put off by all the small things that needed to be done to bring her back to a workable condition which include:
She has not been slipped in four years and has a nice coral reef underneath her.
The down stairs is a mess and the engine does not work.
The folding propeller has a missing blade.
The sails are rags.
The mast is very tall.
She was washed up on Manly beach, next to the wharf in a big southerly storm which resulted in deck damage.
The mooring chain has tipped under the alloy gunnel on the port side. And so it goes on.
He reports that they were asking about $24,000.
I'm awaiting his reply as he is going to contact the owner again for us.
Chris.

Well, this side of Christmas, New Year as well as the Nationals sees that the E30's have disappeared for the Boat Point web site and while there are a lot of E24 & E26's, there are no longer any E30's and stil the one E32 in Melbourne for sale. I have lost contact with Kevin Swadling and do not know if he sold his E30, the Splinter or has withdrawn it from sale. At one stage there were three and four E30'S, All Mark 2'S for sale, but they have apparently al been sold.
If anyone has news onthe Bif Endeavours, please make a posting.

The total number of all sized Endeavour yachts currently being advertised on Boat Point web-site has reduced in the past two or three weeks. This means that the boats are selling or the owners are giving up.
There is currently six E24's, seven E26's & one E27 as well as one E32 with no others including E30's for sale at this time.
The E32 which is in Melbourne is a good looking boat and they have reduced to the price by $10K to be now asking $75K.
The E27 I think is John Anderson's boat up at Lake Macquarie. As the recession begins to really bight later this year when the crazy federal government has bankrupt the nation we will see luxury items like new yachts become increasingly slow selling. Endeavours will always be good value.

There are now three E30's in North Harbour, with the Mark 1, Walrus having come in earlier this year and the Mark 2, Kaos appearing this week. She has been cleaned up and looks OK after looking abandoned for some time while on a Mnaly Cove mooring. Reports are that after protracted negotiations the Kaos has been sold. I will make further inquiries and ascertain who the new owner is, as well as confirming that she has actually been sold. There is a wall of silence from Manly YC. They see us as a threat to their club. Both of these other E30's are on Trehearns' moorings.

A check of the Boat Point web site last night revealed the advertising of a boat previously seen. The "Good One" is again for sale and is listed as an E32. I'm still of the opinion that she is a Mark 2 E30.
She looks very nice and is priced at $69K in Brisbane.

At the AGM of the Endeavour association John Swan announced that he was putting up his E30, the Swan Song for sale. Now this boat was formally named Murphys' Lore and is a nice little jinn palace with red cedar and maroon upholstery inside and the hull is a light blue color.
She will be in the weekend magazines being advertised and John is asking $45K, which is far cheaper than other Mark 2 E30's currently on the market.
If you wish to see any photos I have some and you can email me.

At last John Swan's E30 Mark 2, the Song Swan has been posted on Boat-point for sale. This is the former Murphys Law and was the first E30 which I looked at some years ago when it's third owner was selling her up at Gosford way. She is a fine craft and I believe that John has had the engine rebuilt. At $45,000.00 it is about the same asking price as it was back when I inspected her.

I have been sick for the last few weeks with the flu, no pig jokes please! And I've not had the opportunity to get down to North Harbour and meet the new owner and look over the Mark 2 E30, Kaos.
Now this yacht has been moored in Manly Cove for many years and over the past three years or so she has been neglected to the point of becoming a floating coral reef. I had been trying to find the owner and see if he was interested in selling her. I had dreams of taking her home and re-building her in the backyard, see previous posting entitled the "Fiberglass Fence". Anyway, I made some progress and found out that she was being offered for sale, however I could never get the owners name or phone number. The boat was reported to have sunk at it's mooring, although this has not been confirmed and then she turned up at the Manly Boat Shed where she has been slipped and cleaned up and is currently being renovated internally.
Last weekend one of our members told me that he knows the new owner who works at the Manly Boat Shed and that he had purchased the Kaos off the original owner.
He paid under $10K. Shock and horror!!!
The good part is that the new owner is a racer and was interested is sailing with us at North Harbour.

Jeeez Copey, that one slipped the hook. Bad luck. Still, another racer is good news for you, someone to talk to as that slippery 24 sails off into the distance.

Hay there Robert,
It would be nice to have another E30 to race against, however the new owner will probably just do her up and make her look like a pretty cruiser and resell her and make some money. Do not really know how a Mark 2 E30 would go against us. Most of these boats are only cruisers and are much heavier than our Hagar which we think is about 3.6 tonnes. We burn off other Mark 2's that we have sailed against. However I was told by one of the old guys that this particular E30 was quick with her higher aspect rig. Hope we get the opportunity to see how quick she can be.
These is another derelict E30 that we know about in Sydney, the Laurapinta, which is a Mark 1 and is moored in Lavender Bay. So if I get the opportunity I'll put a letter aboard her in the hope of making contact with the owner. She is likewise very neglected but was set op to race with a lot of gear. However she does not have the potential of a Mark 2. We shall see what happens. A mate of mine has just purchased a lightweight J30 footer with has a single luff kite with a built-in pole launcher. He paid just under $100K.

This afternoon Rod & I motored across the bay at North Harbour and visited the new owner of the Mark 2 E30 "Kaos". He really has his work cut out for him and he thinks it will be at least a year before he can race her and more before she is finished. He has stripped out the inside and the motor is out and he is going to re-build it. The galley is on the starboard side down aft and there was not much more inside the body of the yacht. He is grinding her back and doing a good job. He said that the boat was full of water and everything was rotting inside. The bulkheads looked OK and what I could see of the plumbing it all needs replacing.
All in all though she is an Endeavour and built like the proverbial out-house. With a lot of grease and elbow she will one day be a really nice yacht again.
He is not interested in selling her!

Today we sighted the Mark 2 E30, "Vega" which has come up for sale for the second time on the Boat-point web-site. She is a dark coloured hull with only some cruising gear and is well priced at $25,000.

Here is the web address to look at the current Endeavour Big Yachts which are on offer for sale at this time.

http://ninemsn.boatpoint.com.au/boats-for-sale/results.aspx?N=896+604+607+610+4294909619+924+1089

For anyone who has an enquiring and or suspicious mind about "global warming" and CO2 emission's then I recommend that you get hold on the latest book published by Ian Plimer entitled; Heaven+Earth.
A most interesting read on how we are being milked by the loony left of politics.

Oh, and my wife said that I'm not allowed to buy the Vega, darn
Have to finish the house first, which is a bit like the Harbour Bridge.

In discussions concerning the new owner of the Kaos, it was mentioned that he did not know that his purchase was a Mark 2 Endeavour and may not have been aware that she was even an endeavour yacht, only that she was just an old IOR yacht.
He did mention to us that the reason he purchased her was the fact that she was the biggest 30 and she could go anywhere.

Sitting here at home this miserable evening with a nice dose of the flu, curse the swine! Was cruising the current Endeavour big yachts which are on Boat-Point for sale. There is currently, one E27, one E28, three E30 mark 2's, but the "Good One" is listed as an E32. She is listed at $55K. In addition there is also one E32 in Melbourne which is listed as asking $75K.
Of the three E30 mark 2's, the cheapest is the "Vega" at $25K. Now this boat had been listed and sold a couple of years ago. Graham Macpherson made enquiries about her and discovered that she has had an extra tonne of lead in the form of a bulb to her keel. This would be interesting to view as these craft, to my knowledge have iron keels, as per our Mark 1 "Hagar". The Vega is a very cheap Mark 2.
The best looking boat is the "Good One" and at $55K is a bit over-priced for my liking.
The E32, which is unnamed looks from the photos to be in good condition but at $75K, is way off the planet for price.
Overall these boats do not appear to be moving which is a sure sign that with the way the economy is going they may not be sold real soon. So it may be offering time in a couple of months time.

The past two weeks has seen firstly the Melbourne E32 and then John Swans mark 2 E30, the Swan Song going from the Boat Point web-site.
Hopefully these two yachts have found good homes.

Another E30, mark 2 has appeared on Boat-point this week which is asking $58K and is in Townsville. This boat has been posted some time ago and is a well fitted out clean looking cruiser.
There is also an additional E27 for $18K for sale.

Good to hear from you Eric, thought that the swine flu may have taken you off to the pearly gates. Thanks for that information about the Swan Song and not surprising with the state of the economy.

Yachts are starting to sell again on Lake Macquarie. My son's E26 sold and then last weekend I sold my Adams 31.
Currently looking for a replacement.
