Good to hear from you Adrian,
Also good news about the boat sales. The news of the day here is that four big yachts have burnt on Pittwater this afternoon. No doubt it will be in the TV news tonight and we will get more details. The reports that I heard were that they were big boats and there were three but my wife now tells me, four have gone up in smoke.
The only other Mark 1 for sale is possibly the Splinter but I've not spoken with Kevin Swaddling in some time. There are three Mark 2's on the boat point at present as well as the Swan Song which I believe is still for sale. I liked the sound of the E27 with the outboard well. She should be a very light and quick boat.
A mate of mine had recently purchased a single luff kite 30 foot yacht which is a bit like a Mumm30 and it should be really quick down wind, will get a sail aboard her later in the spring.
Your choice all depends upon whether you wish to race on the Lake in open classes or cruise and possibly race with us in the E27+ fleet each year.
Good hunting, Chris.

SMOKE ON THE WATER!!!
Well the news media are reporting that at least five big cruisers have gone up in flames on Pittwater near the Newport Arms Hotel.
Only stink boats! Oh for insurance. Apparently someone was working on one boat which went up in flames and it has spread to the others. There are some great pictures.

This afternoon the owning of an E27 contacted me enquiring about
where and how to go about selling his yacht, the “Jeeves”. She has
come out of Middle Harbour and was previously owned by Jim Butler
and has also sailed under the name “Churchill” at Gosford. She has
a new rig and is in good condition, however the diesel engine is in
need some attention.
She is currently laying in Pittwater and the current owner, David Geeves
can be contacted on; 0414 442871 and he is asking $17,000.00 ono.

This afternoon while bringing the Hagar into the work berth at North Harbour we spotted the Mark 1 E30 Walrus on one of the Manly Boatshed moorings. She usually comes in at this time of the year for a slipping. This means that with the Kaos and the Hagar there are three E30's in North Harbour at this time. A Fleet, dontweknow?

Today Rod reports that he visited the Mark 2 E30, Kaos which is up on the slips over at Treherns Boat Shed. She still is without an engine and the owner is planning to put a new 20 HP Volvo in her.
Rod also reported that this boat has ballasting in the keel in the form of resin and iron. This is the third E30 with some form of ballest whic we have encountered.
And that the area around the propeller is only glassed foam which had become waterlogged and had to be replaced.

The owner is adamant that is keeping her.

There is not much new on the horizon for the Big Boats. There are two E27's for sale as well as two Mark 2 E30's which keep returning on the Boat Point website.
The E28 for sale in Gosford has been sold.

G,day Chris , I,ve bought ELECTRA the E28 from Gosford. and much work to do there is too.The plan is to sail her when she is seaworthy back to Callala Bay and give her the new name of DULCIBELLA . The motor expired on the trip back from the slip so i have to pull it out and rebuild it ,which should start this week.I have a cupple of questions for all enderavourites if i can draw on your help ,ONE.. The motor in Dulcibella is 12hp, is this powerfull enough for a vessel of this displacement. The second question is regarding paint on the deck ,someone has painted it with what looks like flat plastic house paint, does any one have any idea how to get this off safely without messing up the glass underneath.I am pleased to report that Margarita my E26 sold before she went on the market and the new owner is Paulo Polsen , she will stay at Callala and be as loved as much as when she was mine. Cheers taunto

Hi Tony. Congradulations and for Paul too. How long before she will be coming home? I was hoping to see her soon. I guess you will be spending a bit of time up there now till she is sea worthy.

Good luck with your new purchase of the "Dulcibella" Tony and we look forward to seeing you at Botany Bay next year. With regards to your engine size, the larger the power the better, however our E30, Hagar has only a 10 HP diesel and while to lacks power to steam ahead in heavy conditions it has been adequate to our needs to date. Most other E30's have around 20 HP diesels, but our boats are about 3.6 tonnes and an E28 should be a lot lighter and more easily driven. The propeller size and type will also affect your performance.
Your paint removal job does not sound like fun and you might look at it being removed by sand blasting, ask Colin Cole as he is the resident expert on these matters. A strong gurney might also remove a lot of old sins. We have to sand back and repaint our decks on the areas which are smooth. Rod repainted the non-skid areas before the nationals and it is holding up well.
Good luck and keep in touch.
Chris.

Good evening my fellow Endeavourites, thank you for your help regarding Dulcibella ,i made a discovery this week regarding the paint on the deck,i was hanging over the back with my eye at deck level and noticed a piece of paint that i could get my finger nail under ,lifted it, and a piece the size of a cupple of 50 cent pieces lifted off , there was no undercoat or other surface prep so i am hopeing a high pressure cleaner will lift it . I had arranged for a gentelman to pull the motor out at Gosford, and rebuild it there , so we could have the pleasure of sailing home to J B , but he could never quite get to the boat to do the job so i have decided to truck her home , all being well in 10 days, put her on the hard and do the work that is required . Chris regarding Botany Bay next year its in the game plan , not to race but to be there . While i was in Gosford buying the boat i had the pleasure of meeting some wonderful enderavourite's Grahame Macpherson has been a fantastic help and pressed me to make the trip next year , i met E H , John walton, Greg, and some of the others that were raceing that weekend , i ony wished i could of stayed . Cheers Tony T

The Mark 1 E30, Serendipity has again appeared on the Boat Point web site. This boat has been for sale on at least one other occasion. She looks OK and listed at $32,000.00 which is a good price. She is listed as having been slipped in January this year.
She appears to be set up as a cruiser rather than a racer and is advertised though a Pittwater brokerage. I will try and find out further details and where she is laying. I recall her as originally being in southern Queensland.

Yesterday afternoon I finally got onto Lamour Brokerage at Pittwater and spoke to the sales staff there in regards to the Mark 1 E30, Serendipity which is offered for sale at $32K.
They said that they have three E30's for sale, that they have a very large stock of yachts for sale and that they have a deposit upon the Mark 2 boat named the "Bojangles", which is lined with teak and came from Port Hacking. The Swan Song is the other Mark 2 for sale.
They said that the Serendipity may be over-priced at $32K and were keen for us to inspect her, which I may do in the coming week.
They also stated that she was set-up to race, which is not the case as compared to our "Hagar", and I believe she is a cruiser and has perhaps raced earlier in her life.

Well here is the web-site contact for the Boat-point sales adds on the Endeavour Big-Boats for you Eric. So glad that you are getting rid of that short-ass craft and are taking a step up in the world. You will find E30 cruising and racing very relaxing for your crusty old bones, don'tyouknow?
Chris.

Well the Senendipity is still for sale and the asking price has dropped to $29,990.00 from $32,000.00. It will be interesting to see if she now sells. Meanwhile the Swan Song is unchanged and still advertised at the old price.

Geetings all,
Just a note that the Serindipity has again dropped in price to $27,500.00. So that means you could pick her up for around $25K.
Here is the link for a quick perv.

There are no changes to report on the Boat-Point web site for Big Boat sales. The E28, Alweld, the Mark 1 E30, Senendipity and the market 2 E30, Swan Song remain on the list.
I feel that the Senendipity should have sold by now, but having not gone to see her she may have something major wrong. However that seems unlikely because the old E30's are such solid little boats.
Anyway, I'm a bit wary of visiting her as I might get the bug and buy her.

Closer to home, the old Mark 2 E30, Kaos which resides across the bay from our club at Manly Boat shed, continues to be worked upon by the young apprentice who bought her for a reported $5K. She still has the engine out and is without a propeller and sits very high in the water. Apparently he is working on the inside and all of the deck fittings have been removed.

This morning I noticed that the famous E30 mark 2 "Caroline" has been put up for sale. She is still based in Tasmainia and looks to be in her pristine mint condition and they are asking $59,950.00.

There is also the Swan Song, an E30 mark 2 as well as the mark 1 Serendipity, a Qld. E28 and the Aldwell, an E27.
Chris.
