I have a mate up from Vic, Dave is his name - he used to be my partner in "Spindrift" knows a bit about Endeavours, knows his way around a race track and is looking for a crew position for the champo's! Any early takers? plz rsvp via here or tuffyclan5@optusnet.com.au

Finally got the boat out of the water - just got to find the time to tart her up. So "Blys" and us for sure (Ando my only window to get up there is the 5th, 6th or 7th if you can factor that into the mooring availability)Ken Titmus in "Scallywag" maybe a late entry (if he makes it, will probably turn up on the day - BB to Lke Mac is easy a couple o slabs for Kenny)

So all the best for the season and see you all up there safe n sound.

Col

Hi Col, GSC had its 3 sprint race day yesterday on the best sailing day so far this year. 2nd Div results Divine Intervention 1st in Race 1, 4 Seasons 1st Race 2, Kytan 1st Race 3. Haylee Maree just behind, 1-2 minutes between us all. Great racing, totally unforgiving as EVERYONE [including 2x30 footers and a Ross 830]was just there on your shoulder waiting for a stuff up. 4 Seasons and DI finished equal 1st after 3 races and Eric reckons he has lost his edge.

Reckon it will be GSC's year up at the lake Col, you should see all our black sails way up ahead. Try to keep up.

gotta remember how to sail first!! only had H&C out 4 times since last titles - the crew will i'm sure remind me of all the basic errors I may make :) and yes el presso has assured me he is out to give us a thrashing this year! I'm thinkin too that 'Clewless" might turn up with some new gear as well - been a bit below his normal tenacious self last year i expect no quarter from Guy this time around - indeed the Oricle has been quite too I beleive Ando is on "Harbinger" yet another worthy oponent - look forward to it.

Watch out HAGAR. A new opponent has just entered. E28 "Scotch Mist" has been moving well in our twilight races. Last Wednesday he won convincingly.

The interesting thing about yesterdays race was....3 different races, 3 different courses and 3 different winners ,even though we dropped our foredecky over the side in race one,the funny thing is that it was all so quick that we didnt realise he was gone until we saw him climbing up the stern ladder dripping wet, apparently as he fell, he grabbed the toe rail and hand over handed himself for the length of the boat and up the ladder...We do have fun up here...Eric H...

Hi there Adrian,
I hope that the Scotch Mist is racing in the Nationals, with them and the Final Fling it will mean that we will have a total of three boats in the division at this time. Is there any news from the other E30's?
We would still like to race with the E26's, it makes it so much more interesting for everyone. Surly Haulandcoal could use some real competition? Don't we know? Remembering that in the last nats both H&C as well as Hagar one five zip each.
Chris.

Hi Chris,
Scotch Mist is sailing about as fast as my Adams 31. How does that equate to an E30? She is an entry.

Hi there Adrian,
The last time we sailed against the Scotch Mist was back at Gosford in 2007. There were quite competitive then and came third overall with Rhumline second. They could do us in the light conditions. However I believe that we are traveling a lot quicker these days.

Hi, yes we (Scotch Mist) have entered the Nationals and are looking forward to getting out on the water with you all. Thanks for your kind words Adrian but lets not get too carried away, our handicap on Wednesday had a lot to do with that win. My crew are all new to sailing this season (with the exception of 1 of them) and have had no spinaker experience yet, so it should be interesting to say the least, but they are keen. It will be interesting to see if we can keep up with you all over the weekend.
Cheers
Mark

Hi there Mark,
Looking forward to racing with you chaps in the new year. A championship is the best place for your crew to learn, just point your boat in the right direction and don't panic.
Have a happy Xmas to all.

Hello there Mark (Scotch Mist),
I would like to encourage you guys to keep racing and working on the Scotch Mist. She beat us in two heats at the last Gosford Nationals and E28's are quick inshore racers. For your first nationals in SM you performed really well and we are grateful for the competition you provided. It has taken us four years to get the Hagar to it's current position and there is more to be gotten out of her performance wise.
It was a disappointment that John Walton in his Second Fling could not get up to the lake as well as our old rivals the E27 Rhumline was also missing this year. The two other mark 2 E30's Kiatoa and Swan Song were also not present due to reported maintenance problems. However, if the next Nationals are held at Gosford as mentioned by Graham Macpherson we should have a good fleet with at least three of these boats able to attend.
So I'm optomistic that we could have a good roll up of big boats at the next nationals.
Chris.

Today saw a good roll-up of yachts at North Harbour Sailing Club with a total of six boats. There were three in each division and both the Hagar and Dumeresq got past the Cavalier which was the first yacht off in the handicap start on the third leg. We were sailing with our old sails with the new mainsail back at the sail maker for some further modifications. Coming out of Middle Harbour after passing the Cavalier we slipped away from Dumeresq and steadily increased this lead to win by about six minutes. However it really was a bit of a parade with most of the legs being reaches and with three runs.
We will be sailing again next weekend as a catch-up for lost races.
Chris.

Hi Chris, Thanks for the encouragement and racing, though we couldn't catch you we enjoyed giving it a go and were not unhappy with our efforts, a cpl of big broachs under spinaker didn't help and we just couldn't match your boat speed up wind. Well done to you and your crew. Fingers crossed we aim to be there for next years and by then my crew (and I!) will have a bit more experience under our belt and maybe a new sail or two, so we will at least try to give you a run for your money.
Cheers

Hi Mark,
Have you looked at the results and your times? You did some good ones and beat a lot of the E26 fleet. We only beat Haulncoal in the first race last year but this year he did not beat us and I think that Rebel only beat us twice. So you were very competitive and especially so in a new boat. The E28's are very quick on harbours and lakes and I think that you will get a lot more out of her next time around.
We use our twilighter mixed fleet races to access how we are going and are always looking for that extra bit of speed. Hope to see you next year if not sooner if there are any Regattas where we can meet.
If you are in Sydney we race on Friday nights and alternative Sundays, give me a ring on 0416 108639 and come out for a sail.
Chris.

Last night saw a perfect North Easterly sea breeze for the Manly YC Twilighter race. After last weeks' big southerly with only Rod, myself & Rods son Michael aboard which saw us overpowered and finishing mid fleet. This resulted in a one minute handicap bonus to us.
And so last night we went off with the old big gear and four aboard. We had an excellent race finishing a fast third over the line pipping a lot of the bigger yachts on the line and missing second place by a boat length.
However the honours went to John off the Dumeresq who sailed with the latest new member of North Harbour in a reconditioned E24, the Bluey. They had three bodies aboard and cleared out to be first home in fine style. So it was 1st & 3rd for Endeavours and North Harbour last night. Bluey will be racing this Sunday at North Harbour for the first time.

Today was a slow race at North Harbour with a light swinging East South Easterly. We were heavily handicapped following last weeks win, however we sailed a very good first work and with a lot of luck passed our main rival, David's 31 swanson to skip away. Dumeresq was not sailing with the new addition to our fleet the E24 Bluey. She was again manned with two off the Dumeresq and they sailed well being the overall handicap winner of the two fleets.

Also of interest was the fact that we were informed by John who sailed on Friday that both the Bluey and the second placed J24 were penalised and repositioned in the Friday nights results due to starting breaches of the race rules. This elevated the Hagar to first place. While this sounds great, it is bad news because we are now handicapped out of future races and next week will see us starting behind and with all the bigger modern lightweights.

On the bright side was the fact that we were in fact sixth fastest, without handicap, beating a lot of larger and theoretically faster modern yachts.

Last nights twilighter race at Manly YC was a goody, with flat water ad fast sailing and notwithstanding the eight minutes handicap they dropped upon us from last weeks result. We sailed with the old number two head sail. It was a gusty north easterly and we had a good run down wind and amazingly held off many of the larger yachts on the run. We then had a good race upwind mixing it with the big boys and passing quite a few on the way home. We finished on the heels of the pack but could not really determine where we finished, in the twenty somethings I think.

The current run of good North Easterly sea breezes looks to continue into the weekend and tonight is forecast to be around 19 knots for our local derby at Manly. Just a pity that they have handicapped us out of the racing. We will again start at 27 minutes past 6. I fail to see why we did not gain at least a minute after last week as we were well pack in the fleet.
Rod is sailing in the skiffs tomorrow and on Sunday we race at North Harbour. So it is looking good with the sea breezes all weekend piping in.

Last night's twilighter race was another cracking north easterly with flat water and a solid 16 to 20 plus knots. We started well but well back in the fleet and sailed with the old number three head sail and full main down wind but then reefed the main for the work home. In the final two tacks to the finish we reeled in about five or six yachts, however all the biggies had passed us in the sound.
