Sounds like a great time will be had by all I do wish I was there, I wouldn't worry about old copey, he will see the light one day and sell the slug and by a 24 each then they would have more fun and no excuse for being flogged each race.

Tonight's twilighter was another marathon lightweight affair and also another parade with one jibe and two tacks, just to make it interesting.
We finished surprisingly well mid-fleet in the dark having taken several other boats in the last part of the race which saw many yachts, including big boys who had passed us and had sailed into a hole.

The Friday night race results were posted this morning and of the thirty two starters we finished 16th, which we are pleased with considering the handicap they clamped upon us and with two weeks unchanged. There was eleven yachts which DNF'd and did not finish within the time limit.

Last nights twilighter race at the Manly YC was yet again another parade. It was a race which was before the start an obvious straight liner with a run to Nielson Park YA buoy and then one long tack to the finish line at Manly. We started back in the fleet with the 36 to 42 footers and finished mid fleet in light to moderate conditions. A related pleasant evening with no talent at all required to race.

Today saw the second "long-race" of the season which sees us race up the harbour to Drummoyne and home to Manly. It was a dramatic race for the Hagar which saw us T-boned by old David's Carmen 31 on the start.
We had crossed the start line on starboard with Dumersq in close company and David came down on port and hit us amidships in the centre of the gunnel. The damage is extensive although small. We were struck on the alloy toe rail which saw a triangular section of about 3/4 of a metre by about 400mm down the side. The deck area around the gunnel is impacted and the toe rail is history. There is a slow leak where the gunnel is in the water immediately after the collision. It will be in the hands of the insurance assessors this week, we hope and the brains trust at the Club say that it will be an expensive job towards a possible $10K.
On a happier note we sighted a lot of Endeavour yachts at both ends of the harbour.
Oh, and Hagar was fastest with David retiring at the finish.

I have heard all about your T-Boning exploits Eric, a bit like your photos, cannot see for looking, dontweknow?
You have much in common with old David whom did us on Sunday, a bit overdone, short of breath, but not an opinion etc, ect. But, hay? we will all hopefully be still racing at your age. Old David has his own handyman business, races hard and never flinches, attends all the council meetings and gives all the local pollies what-for and he is in his mid 70's.

Today's North Harbour race was raced in a light north easterly and as it was a handicap start with two divisions were were chasing the fleet all day. Along the way we passed the Clewless as well as the Second Fling, which both looked good, and especially the Second Fling which we got up close to. She is still in very good condition.
We finished third over the line with Dumeresq in front and with a Triton from Division two the victor.
After the race we motored across the bay on our way home in our tinny and spied upon the Kaos, a mark 2 E30. She is being renevated at the Manly Boat Shed and is looking better, but with a lot of work still to be done, and we only saw the outside.

The Manly twilighter races finished two weeks ago and regretfully we did not race the last two Friday nights due to work commitments.
The last North Harbour SC race will be this Sunday and it will be an interesting duel between the Hagar and the Cavalier, which is David's Carmen 31. There are also a number of the second division yachts who are in the hunt to win overall. While we are a few points in the lead it is still open for a number of yachts to win the Club Championship so it is going to be an interesting tussle and the wind strength will be one of the main influences to the final outcome.

Yesterday's final race at North Harbour SC saw six starters with three in each division. The wind was light for three quarters of the race which was perfect for the Dumaresqe boys in their E24 and they cleared out to win by fourteen minuted from Hagar and then another five minutes to David's Carmen 31. The final work from Shark Island to Manly saw the North easterly finally come in and we wound in the Carmen 31 up the work. The final results for the season saw Hagar first and winning the Club Championship and Point Score series with the Carmen 31, Cavalier second and Dumaresq third overall.
It was a good season but with the Dumaresq missing a number of early races due to the Hamilton Island races in Queensland which they challenged. Next year should see a few more yachts racing with one sports boat being built and with the possibility of one or more additional E24's.

The new season for 2009 / 2010 begins this coming Sunday the 13th from North Harbour Sailing Club. The Dumaresq boys are back in town from the winter regattas in Queensland and Stuart is keen to steel back the Club Championship trophy which they lost last season.
We anticipate a larger fleet this year but will not know how many starters there are until the day. However there will be at least five to six starters and more to come. All visitors are welcome and the start is a handicap with the Division 2 boats off from 11.00am.

Last Sunday saw the opening race of the season and there was a good number of starters with four in Division 1 and four in Division 2. This is about the best turnout that we have had and there are still more boats to start the season. The race was fought out in the Division 2 craft with a new face in a Folkboat winning his first race at North Harbour. Our second division is most interesting with at least three racing single handed including the winner.
The Hagar came third across the line with the new 38 footer wining followed by the Dumeresq. The conditions were challenging, really bad north westerly with holes.
Hopefully the next race will see a sea breeze.
Chris.
