Cheer up Col, just remember that likewise I carry the burden of a Sailing club and you need to be thick skinned and have a strong back. The comments I make are open and to your face and I'm only the messenger, while the bullet makers lie low. Sometimes it's best to clear the air, dontyouknow?

The Regatta was well run and it was great to have two new champions, which is good for the class. It was sad to see only two E24's, they are such quick little boats.
I hope that the Jeeves as well as the Rhumline get to Gosford next year as it was the best racing that we have had in some time.

Suggest that you look at your starting crew, at the Lake as well as Gosford they had the ability to move the top mark if there was a wind shift.

And I much prefer the sailing at Botany Bay and Lake Macquarie to the swamp of Gosford.
Chris.

Thanks Col for the clarification and please don't get the wrong idea, the larger paddle is to get across sh** creek quicker.

Agree that the racing should be about the challenge not the trinkets that follow. It is a pity that more e24's won't come out to play, the association has tried hard over the years to attract more however it may be time to call it (time of death) just like MHYC has with the Hood 23's.

I was amazed to see 7 x e26 and 5 x e24 sitting on moorings within eyesight of your club on Sunday.

Perhaps in hindsight the offending email should not have been sent!

Chris,You change your mind more often than your sox(every 3 to 4 days) ,perhaps you should not come to Gosford ,we dont want our swamp polluted with coal dust from your bunker. BBYC just oozes with atmosphere and what a sailing club should feel like....be carefull, theres every chance there will be two more 27s to embarrass you again next year........EH

Something to keep in mind. The last good fleet of E24s was on Lake Macquarie. They are still there.

Well I'd be very pleased to sail against four E27's. It is still hard to fathom that we had twice as many big-boats in our fleet than the E24's had in there's this year.
But hay there Mr. Grinch, your tubby little E26 is also a coal-burner, dontweknow?
And what would you know about the atmosphere of the BBYC, you never put in an appearence. The activity at the club was much quiter than the last two times there.
Chris.

Ok, I,m not putting out any more spot fires!
I had a good time, the Gardners did as well and for me that was the name of the game.
I may have swallowed the bait but the honor of BBYC will always be in the fore for me!!
If I still have a boat or not I will be at GSC and Wangi - as I am an Endeavourite as well as a staunch BBYC type of guy:)
Pat, all is cool you just got me on the hop - lets blame Copey, seems the fitting thing to do doesn'tthe world know :) :)

Hi Col, my old man, god rest his soul, once told me never complain about the work that a volunteer does unless you are prepared to do his job. BBYC is the same as WASC, we are run by volunteers trying to do there best and sometimes we get it wrong(not saying that BBYC got anything wrong) but until someone else wants to do the job they should stop whinging. Saturdays AGM was the first time i've been to BBYC and it seems like a friendly place in a great spot. The only problem is car parking. Maybe the neihboor who owns the Lexus, Porsche and the Lambhorgini could lend you some space. The GFC must have hit hard at Botany.

Hey perhaps it may be time to update the old warhorse (e24) led by Stuart's team in allowing bowsprits and asymmetrical's and perhaps replace the mast with a J24 rig with sails being much more readily available.

After all who cruises e24's anymore?

Why not strip them out for club racing or day sailing. Eventually the e26 will go down the same path onto life support without a rethink. I have often thought of being really radical by putting a timber gaff rig like the Crabber 26 into my e26.

Paddles have many good uses!!!

Hi Eric,
What I was saying was that it was easier to get a fleet of E24s together at Lake Macquarie. They are not an easy yacht to get from the Lake to one of the Sydney venues or vice versa. It takes more than 12 hours or two days if you stop at Pittwater overnight. You have to be very dedicated to do that. I have probably done that trip more than most in the smaller Endeavours.

Meanwhile back with sailing, Rod & Pete did not front up last night and Ross & I sailed the Hagar in a nice north easterly at Manly two-up. I picked the wind conditions and went for the number two jib and while we struggled at times the boat was going very quick, being under-weight for crew. We finuished mid-fleet whcih was pleasing and with a bit more body ballast could have been with the leaders. Unfortuneatly Many YC persist to use their odd courses which do not relate to the winds very well.
We have a race at North Harbour as well as a possible mid-week regatted at North Harbour.
Chris.

The crew of BBYC's E24 Trani 2 enjoyed a great weekend. Word of mouth will encourage more 24 participants. The crew from the other 24 and I had a great time. We laughed, drank, sang and smiled our way around the markers. We will make Gosford if work allows and if i havent bought a E30 before then. Many thanks to EYAA and BBYC organisers for their great efforts, as well as the male models of 'Hagar' for allowing the admiral & myself to crawl over your boat, and to Bias at Gosford for their support.

Hay there JR, while there are no "Trani's" aboard the Hagar we are pround of our male bodies, re-man boobs & poer bellies dontyouknow!
On Friday night we sailed two-up on the Hagar for the twilighter and came a good 14th across the line out of mixed fleet of 33 yachts.
On Sunday after having had one of our crew "poached" we watched the poachers sail to victory with a crew of four up! Notwithstanding this little inconvenience we managed to set kites for all bar the first downwind, which proved a costly error as we finished just behind the Dumeresque. The Race Secretary (CB) had doctored our handicap giving themselves a few extra minutes as well as sailing five up. The good news is that we had eight starters and finishers on Sunday.
This Wednesday is our Clubs Austrlia day sprint race regatta.
Chris.

Hi there JR,
Always looking for crew, tomorrow we have a series of short course races, about fuor or five at North Harbour for the Australia Day Regatta. You are welcome at join us. The club is at the end of Gouley Avenue, Balgowlah. My mobile is 0416 108 639.

In addition, we are also looking for crews on Friday night twilighters. Good handicap racing in a mixed fleet of up to 40 odd yachts. You need to be at our Club, North Harbour SC by about 5pm. We generally finish and are ashore before the sun sets for a beer at the Club. It is a great way to finish the working week.
Chris.
