North Harbour Sailing Club has always been a dinghy club for the past sixty odd years. The dominating classes have been fourteen foot skiffs & moths, while the club originally was a mixed fleet. In more recent times with the demise of both the moths as well as the fourteens North Harbour has been more boat storage and social sailing. Rod Childs has kept the club going as President Secretary & Treasurer & both he & Andy Eaton have sailed their own sixteen foot skiffs from the NHSC with Manly Sixteens foot Skiff Club. In addition, over the the past ten years Rod & Andy have kept & sailed an Endeavour 26 foot yacht. In the last few years we have also held a winter series of races with those members who owned yachts and were interested.
This year with our purchase of the E30, Hagar IV, the Club has taken a new direction with a Yachting division commencing racing on alternative Sundays. There were four registered yachts with two to three regular starters.
Next year this number of yachts should increase with six starters and with the possibility of more as we commence a membership drive.
North Harbour will next year be offering a Racing Membership package with dinghy storage. We believe this package will be the cheapest available on the Harbour.

We encourage Endeavour Yachts to join our racing.

The North Harbour Sailing Club, yesterday afternoon held it Annual General Meeting. The same Office Bearers were re-elected and the same vision for racing yachts from North Harbour SC will continue to be implemented. We had a new member join who will race with us in his Tophat 27 footer.
Rod Childs is the Secretary/Treasurer & Dave Parsons, who sails a Rainbow is the Race Secretary, while Andrew Eaton is the Commodore and I hold the position of President.
We are offering racing membership packages with free YA Safety Audit Inspections available.

Chris,
Does your club allow for casual entries into one of your races.

If so i would be interested in coming for a run down the harbour for a race before our season starts (Jan 20).

Where in the harbour is your course and do you run any coastal racing?

Thanks, David.

David, You are always welcome to come down and gate crash a race with us at North Harbour. If it is a handicap start we go off about 11.50am. We are in recess at present and will not recomence racing until after the nationals which are in two weeks time. So that is about the 12th to the 14th of January and so the first race at our club would not be until at least the Sunday of the 21st of January. We are not currently doing any offshore racing with our own club but enter in the Manly YC offshore races. There is a good series coming up on the, I think Australia day long weekend. The first leg is to Pittwater, the next day to Newcastle and then the final day to Nelson Bay, if memory servers me well.
Rod & I will be racing the Pittwater leg which we did last year and had a good race with a third on Handicap. The rest is yet to be decided. It all depends on the condition of the Hagar as well as the state of play with the SWMBO'ds in our lives.
But please give me a call on 0416 108639.
Chris.

Following the completion of the E24 Nationals on the Swan River in Perth North Harbour Sailing Club can now boast to be the premier Endeavour Yacht of Australia!
In the past ten years we have won the E26 title three times the E27+ title twice and now hold both the E27+ as well as the E24 state & national titles following the big win by the Drumesq in W.A.

Yesterday was the third yacht race on the North Harbour SC Calendar, and while I could not attend there was a lot of feedback from Rod Childs, our skipper off the Hagar this morning.
Yesterdays race represented the largest fleet since we commenced racing yachts three years ago at North Harbour.
There were seven starters and finishers with two Bluebirds, two E24's, a Carmen 31 another 24 as well as our E30.
Casuals and lookers are welcome with our next race on the 26th of October.
This is very encouraging and with at least one more yacht, which is under construction, to come.
Chris.

Hi Chris, you mention 3 E24's sailing yesterday, the association is desperate for 2 E24's for the Nationals this year. Would any of your contestants be willing to lend their boats?

We have some seriously pissed off WA sailors coming over for revenge on your clubmate. There may be blood in the water which would be fun for all of us others to watch.

Hi All,
Three E24s were active at Croudace Bay Sailing Club over the weekend. Sarum finsihed ahead of M&M and Cascade. I noticed that Corinna (Chris Bowling) won at Sydney Amateurs and Bubba was second at Gosford. Hopefully all these will be racing at LMYC in January.

Hi there Greg,
I was not on the water yesterday and my information is second hand, however my understanding is that there were two E24's and another 24 foot yacht. Suggest that you talk with Stewart about the availability of other E24 for leasing out. They may be racing themselves at Lake Macquarie in January.

Hey Greg, we're not seriously pissed off, the exercise in humility was coming; anyway we have all now converted
to Buddhism and are at peace with the world. We have bookesd some swish accommodation overlooking
the Lake, and are looking forward to a relaxing holiday which includes some sailing. I do have some
bad news, Michael Hallam who was also thinking of coming over is now unsure due to some other
commitments.....I will keep working on him.

I finally got a bite. However for purposes of stirring, I prefer pissed off WA crews rather than all this Buddhist bunk.

Does this mean if you get called "port" up on the Lake you will gracefully give way and turn [tack?] the other cheek???

Fear not Greg, we are very flexible with the five precepts, and positive karma will
ensure no boat on boat incidents.

Here is a poem which my youngest daughter, Racheal, wrote while in year eleven for a HSC assignment late last year, she was 16,:

North Harbour Sailing Club

Our father, who art at North Harbour,
Copey be his name;
His race be won;
His opponents slung,
Off salty decks bound to sea.
Give us this day our swilling grog.
And forgive us our drunken slur,
As we forgive those landlubbers who plunder our booty.
And lead us not into the harbour markers and Manly Ferries,
But deliver us into pirate shanties.
For in North Harbour remains our haven,
The club of victory and glory,
For ever and ever.
Amen.

Racing at the North Harbour Club finished strongly with four yachts in division two and three in division one and all racing in the last few races of the season.
Next year should see a further increase in our fleet with a possible two additional E24's, a new lightweight 30 footer and there are three registered yachts whom are not racing yet. But we are working on them.
The Club organisation is improving under the helm of President Rod Childs as both our sailing and social membership grows. We are being swamped with people wishing to house their canoes in our clubhouse at present. At the end of the day we are working towards extending our yacht facilities with the ability to bring yachts alongside the club to work upon craft as well as being able to load and unload without relying upon others.

Today saw a big roll-up of members for a North Harbour SC working bee. There were five work teams operating in and around the Club. While not all of the concreting on out steps and walkway path to the club was completed, due to us using up all of the local hardware store of pre-mix concrete, there was a lot of this arduous task completed as well as the solving of the walkway being turned into a waterfall which has been occurring. Another team was working on the clubs diesel powered tender. They had to cut the deck open and install a new access hatch to re-place and re-pack the stern gland as well as other jobs and maintenance. David Parsons and his assistant completed some carpentry maintenance to the ramp deck and the front balcony. My own team re-built a sea wall which will retain and lift the clubs beach which has been washed away in storms over the past few years.
And while there remain some tasks to complete it is pleasing that there was some much support and camaraderie and we believe that next season will see a bigger season.

And with another sailing/racing season well underway the competition is hotting up at North Harbour with the Dumeresq leading Hagar in the Points Score after three races, dontweknow! However they will not have it all their own way as this weekend is forecast to be a good southerly breeze for Sunday's race.
The sledging has been of a consistently high standard on and off the water and so I felt that it was only fair to share the verbal abuse with the other Endeavour sailors.

And so let the Sledging Begin!!!!

1. Will there be any competition for the Premier sailing club of Sydney? VIZ. North Harbour!
2. Will Mack the Knife Cole be able to raise the dead? with his crew with one foot already in the grave as we type this abuse?
3. Will there be any competition for the mighty Hagar this season?
4. Will any of the former jets of Botany Bay dare to enter the land locked waters of Gosford next year?
5. Will the legend of E24's, I have forgotten his name already, be steering the black boat this year?
6. Is there a doctor in the house of W.A. for the damage to be delivered to the west yet again by the Eastern State of NSW?

Time will tell, dontweknow?
Chris.
