"Haul n coal" has been out the past 3 or 4 weeks, usually Bob, Col, Kyle (Grants 10 year old - an asset to any crew)and another club volenteer - been going well too, plenty of brain power being used! (comeback Hally) with us, have been 5 to 8 other 26s too. "Blys" - running hot n cold but Wazza the skipper was away for a while, our crews swapped boats for a 2 race sprint series, 1 and 3 to us (Blyss) 1 and 4 to H&C - you could have thrown a blanket over 5 E26s in the 1st race - unreal - just why we love about this class, a heap of excited skippers at the bar too :) "Surprise" is on the pace when Greg is on the helm although Herman the owner (Gregs benifactor)get her moving well in the 10knot range. "Tic Tacs" - All those years of crewing on "Rhumbline" have taught Pete well, unlimited potential - shoud have had us last week - but a finish so close that the first to blink missed out - until the sound signal, I thought i had blinked! half a boat lenght! "Scallywag" - what can u say about Ken and Dave - thats the extent of the crew!! plus a rather lage esky - no matter what the wind Ken will most times put up the kite - often to the delight of the surronding boats. "Rhumbline"- has been canning us all, all the club guns have started hanging with MR Eggins and weight on the rail and some mighty nice lookin large head sails and she goes well. Toms tactics on the bay have been spot on. "Stella" only appears every now and then - whilst not at the pointy end always there and abouts at the starts - looks good too - musta been a good chippy who done her up! "Kokomo" Going in the water this week - Hey I've said it all before - the best I've seen, Grunta you are to be congratulated - the rest of us - lookout!! "Wundurra" Brian, well - committed and loves his racing - goes very well too - when they crew up' they kick butt and are not leading the handicap because of poor sailing!
Over all; our season to date has been very very enjoyable, close racing with a true club atmosphere buiding - life at BYC is on the increase - a few more crew members about, would help - I'm thinkin other clubs maybe experiencing this or better has an answer to it - its our forum - go for it. H&C won't be on the water today - we were only going to sail every 2nd week - although SWMBO'd did ask if I wanted to go out today - as our daughter has been "leaking profusly from both ends" and every towel, sheet, mat in the house needs a wash/air out I have decided to do the right thing and stay home and help out. Mind you I may still wander up to the club after sailing and have a beer and listen to the lies sorry results. what other news of the Gosford boats? all apart for Eck have been a bit quite of late! my spy on the harbour says that "Clewless" has been going well (I'd expect nothing less from Guy and his crew) Just got confirmation of the crew list for "Kokomo" at the titles - holy crap! only about a billion sea miles between them, fit as mally bulls, strong as buggery - ex volvo 70 sailor, active big boat bowman, top flight sailmaker - as I say - holy crap!!!! :) |

Well well, last nite was interesting! HnC went in the twilighter to see how far we could whip Kokomo - he had crap sails and a few learners on board - we had a crack mob plus Macca. We lead the fleet at the start some 300 metres in front of thr suppa boat - gone, spat out - YOU WOULD THINK!!! To cut a long story short - before I go cut my throat - he beat us by 3 to 400 metres in under an hour race! we were trying too - fast, godamm that sucker is fast good height too with as I say rags! what the f#@k is it gunna go like with new gear. Copey talks of a change of the guard and putting money on some other boat to win - well i reckon he is right - there may well be an unbeatable boat around for a few years and I may well up the anti Copey and put some serious freight on Grunta - I ain't raised the white flag yet, we still need a few bay races against him - but I know enough about em to know a dominant boat - we are really gunna have our work cut out this time. Don't care how you all think you are sailing this thing is a WEAPON. HAUL N' DEPRESSION :) |

| Fast, but is it legal ,whatever that means...creating speed machines is great fun ,but not so if it obsoletes the rest of the fleet and kills enthusism , not every one is in a position skillfully or financialy to compete at this level...Do we want to finish up with a one boat division like somebody else who will remain nameless..Dumeresqs? obvious speed hasnt started a rush into 24s rather i think the very opposite, silly me thought the idea was to make endeavours into an affordable boat that we mere mortals can enjoy, but what would i know, perhaps i live in the past, but there has been classes obsolted out of existance leaving the obsoleter(is that a word )with no one left to beat ..after reading about this boat what do reckon the chances are of some of the middle and lesser performers deciding not to bother entering the nats....a.lost cause....I'm sure i'll be torn to bits over this but for better or worse thars how i see it.....EH |

Well if I'd adopted the attitude of not going to regattas thru fear of a gun boat then i would never have improved in the class!! The legallity side I will leave alone - it looks the same as mine in profile - I've seen more extreme keels over the years! where this boat differs is in the overall strenght and minimum weight - stuff will be able to be yanked on harder with NO movement in the boat - as outlined it will not have dummies sailing her either! As for the "Dumberesk" guys that too is a standard 24 - not doctored in anyway - just an ultra light fit out (light for an Endeavour)and obviously non dummies sailing her too (not sure about Stew - the others are fairly bright but:) No Erik - no one should stay away just cause I'm running scared, if I'm right and we get flayed alive so be it - but it won't be because we didn't try! - and you can bet that the guys who were middle of the pack last year will be further up the food chain this year. I may get out against Grunta mid week for a bit of one on one - so we can evaluate their performance - I'll try not to be so negetive should things not go well - or I'll ask the webmaster how to post a pic of a hangmans noose :) :) |

Silence is golden, dontyouknow Erik?
Champions come and go and I have no doubt that some younger and smarter sailors will pop up and do us in either this or the next Nationals. The same must apply to the other classes. The idea is to just hang in and do the best you can each year. I'm hoping that Guy Erwin can pull a rabbit out of the hat and have a win! He deserves one after all the years he's put into the class. On the weekend I was laid up with a crook back and Rod sailed with only old Pete aboard. It just happened that Stewart also had only one crew with the rest off in John's J24. Rod did Stewart and did not hoist a kite! It is amazing what a clean bottom can do for your boat speed. Chris.

FEAR N LOATHING @ BBYC! Another twilight race last nite, light and shifty - the boats to beat us home were Blys, Miss Conception and Kokomo (my how the mighty have fallen) - the weapon (Kokomo) is only gunna get faster! George Reed in light stuff just sailed over us easily and Blyss too is on the money - we had 15 boats out with a Farr 1104 being our biggest and an E24 the smallest. My spy tells me that a certain elder statsmen from Gosford has ordered a quantity of sails from mr Short! Must be going to have an all our assault on the title - if only he can get a fordeckie under the age of Massothala he will be ok :) Any way what news from our leader - you are keeping very quite Gra! you should fire in a post just to let the rabble know you are still on the helm:) |

| COL, Your'e only a beginner when it comes to sarcasm, praps you should take lessons from Chris,As for D I... I worried him(a liitle bit )two races ago bur last week in a zero to 30 and back again norwesterly Haylee Maree overtook,D I and established a nice lead only to throw it away downwind but was still only 1 1/4 minute behind at the finish...I dont know where youre spy gets his info but the only elder statesmane we have up here is John Della Bosca and he seems to have his hands full ...I was a bit seedy last week so i didnt sail ,unfortunately that cost me 3rd place in the pointscore, but looking forward to next weeks sprint series, how can we get rid of these #@#%^&%#@ westerlies and nor westerlies that keep blowing the seagulls off the rocks ....its december dontweknow...EH.............PS Ithink you should sack your spy |

| Col,In case youre hinting that G S C s elder statesman is me i can only say this, i dont have a chance in hell of doing well in the nats and as i ve just outlaid a fair amount of cash to help my daughter replace her car there is no way that i would be ordering a quantity of sails from anyone...Your ever alert spy seems to have discovered that i bought a new New No 1 some months ago....................Why does it blow w/nw on fridays,n/east on sat,and w/nw again on Sun..?????????????? Dear Elderly Stateless One,
For all your unconfessed sins you will spend a lifetime of sailing in north-westerlies.
Today in Sydney it is blowing a moderate westerly and just to make it interesting the air and wind is full of red-dust, yet again. This is the third red dust storm this year! Dontweknow? Is it not amazing that the pollies and weather scientists are predicting global warming and the sea levels to rise, while they cannot get tomorrows weather forecast correct? Chris. |

Not true CC - the libs aka ostrich's with heads in the sand say that global warming won't happen! and they run the country so they must be right - yeah right - bloody imbeciles. Sorry EriC i must have been sold a dummy there! I see our erstwhile web master has finally got the poo's with us uneducated mob and put an auto spell check on the message reply - way to go John got to be the best site around you are to be congratulated again - how goes the deep south? I did not sail yesterday as I had Sarah to entertain - hot dam hot, I've been told there was a bit of carnage in our fleet - will find out soon enough I'm sure. I've stopped worrying about Grants boat - Hally my master tactician reckons anyone can look fast in those mickey mouse twilight's!!! well he better put us on the right side of the ladder up in brissy waters - says he always reads the blogs too so he might jump in with a pearl or two tomorrow mourn??? !!! :) Yeah Copey I painted a 38' er today on the strength of sea breeze telling me it was gunner a bait by lunch time - yeah it a baited up to 25 plus - helpful. Will Mr Stew Dart please contact me early this week - we need to talk moving the Halvo n payment thereof :) Conz. |

It depends on where you are bound for Eka, dontweknow. During the work on the Hagar on Saturday I did my back in, for the third time while trying to lift the mooring line, ouch, yet again. Off to the back cracker tomorrow, however it will all depend upon if there has been any major damage. Will still go sailing in the twilighter on Friday. More drugs! Chris. |

Hi Col, Ken lives not far from me on Brighton Avenue, Toronto 2283. I think he is at about No 60. His phone number is 02 49598664 I saw him about a week ago, he seemed well on the way to recovery. Adrian
