That guy was on this list about a year or so ago, looks like he did a good job with the refit, hope he gets the larger Endeavour he is looking for. Seemed a nice enough man when he posted questions.

What do you say Colin, you usually have a neglected E26 just lying around the place looking to follow someone home.

Hi Sasha,

T'is mine that is for sale / sail.

Thanks for your help once again... I love this association.

And nothing would excite me more than an old E26 or 24 someone might have lying around... no mooring problems with the e19 "it's got wheels baby!"

Stay tuned...

Got to love ebay so many bogus emails these days... it never seemed to be that bad a while back. Even had a guy in the states tell me he was going to the ATM to ge thte last $700 he needed... not sure what the plan was there...

If only I could put it on steriods... [}}:-|>>]

Hey All...

It sold and testimony to Endeavours it had a massive response - with people wanting to learn more about endeavours etc... it blew me away...

Anyhow, sadly Free Spirit will be going to a new home... I really didn't plan on selling it -- but on the flip side there is now plans for a larger endeavour so if anyone knows of a cheaper one in the Bris-Vega's SE QLD area shout out.

Hopefully back on the water very soon.

The cheapest you will find them is around NSW, and gettign them moved by road is anot a huge cost...or be rave and sail them home. :)

We were looking through a mag yesterday and found an add for Garnet, a very pretty E26 that I remember from the 40th and the Nationals for only about $14K. It may have been an old mag (I do not know) and it was the previous owners trying to sell....but it may be worth checking out.

As an indicator, I paid $8500 for my E26 with Yanmar 2GM inboard....That is not a price you are likely to find again ever, I got very lucky and I haggled like a barbery pirate.
Mostly you will start at the high $9k's for really unloved and used up ones, move to around $16k for the pretty ones (which is why Garnet seems to be a surprising bargain) a fully kitted our boat with a decent inboard will range around $19-22K.

E24's start from about $4K at the bottom of the barrel (floating bird hotels...sometimes only barely floating) and move up to about $14K at the top of the food chain. If the sails are black and the mast is not aluminium then all bets regarding prices are off!

I'll make some enquiries and keep an eye out for you down here if you like, but NSW is really your best bet. I am sure I saw dozens of them languishing in Botany Bay's trecherous shallows. Road transport costs if you get clever and try to save money can be as low as $650 providing you find a local yard or any site with truck access and a crane that can cope with 2.5tons that will give you a break. (The big clue with cheap road transport of boats, find your destination FIRST and negotiate them to a fixed price. I paid a $35 slab of beer last time. Then you can negotiate with the trucking company to backfill your job and let then know exactly the destination...so they do not just take you to the yacht club they get the best deal from...because their best deal is your money by another name).

anyway. Best of luck and hope to see you out on the water in an Endeavour again soon.

I would want a week to go over the boat and get it fit for the journey. after that, I have a really good GPS, a lifejacket and an epirb...I might be up for an adventure. Frankly, the number of harbours between where the boats are and where you want to go, you could pretty much pull in every night and have dinner at a pub (or at least set up a tent on the beach if you so wanted)...It is only form Melbourne (and I suppose Perth) that getting out and around the corner is a daunting prospect.

We get to zip out of the bay, pull into Westernport on the same day...and then it is nowhere to go until refuge cove ont he other side of Wilson's Prom. After that you are once again without anywhere to pull in if things turn ugly until you come around into Eden (though it might be possible to shelter behind Gabbo Island depending on conditions). After Eden it is all coves and safe harbours up to the whitsundays...but that first step is a doozie!
